A gem at the crossroads of Tuscany’s ancient rural routes

A gem at the crossroads of Tuscany’s ancient rural routes

Tenuta La Fratta is a historic village with centuries of history, dating back to the 12th century

Its identity was shaped along two of Tuscany’s most important historical routes – the Cassia and the Lauretana – and has evolved over time through architecture, rural life and artistic heritage.

Over the centuries, La Fratta has been the setting for stories and figures such as Ghino di Tacco, the noble outlaw celebrated by Dante and Boccaccio, within a landscape defined by traditional terracotta architecture.

Today, the estate brings together hospitality, cuisine and agricultural activity in a project that preserves and enhances its history, territory and local traditions.

The first structures of La Fratta date back to the Middle Ages, in an area historically crossed by the Cassia and Lauretana roads.

“I arrived at what I had been told was the most quintessential Tuscan farm.
After three days, I leave convinced that La Fratta is Tuscany itself.”

Chianina breeding

At Tenuta La Fratta, Chianina IGP is more than a product – it is part of the estate’s agricultural identity.
Breeding has always been central to the life of the estate and remains a defining element of its balance between landscape, work and rural culture.

All stages are managed internally, from birth to growth and finishing, with dedicated staff and constant attention to animal welfare. This fully integrated approach reflects a precise vision of agriculture: rooted, coherent and deeply connected to the land.

In this sense, Chianina IGP represents a tangible expression of what La Fratta stands for. A tradition carried into the present through quality, continuity and a direct relationship between farming, land and local history.
